Largest boat-hoist operational in Sweden

Öckerö based Ö-varvet, recognised as one of the leading Shipyards in Sweden, has upgraded their mobile lifting facilities till 150T. The 1919-founded family owned shipyard was specialized in building, repairing and maintaining fishing boats. In the late 70’s, other clients such as the royal Swedish Navy and local authorities work-boats came to Öckerö to benefit from the experience and just in time deliveries of Ö-varvet.

To be able to handle them all with a maximum weight to 900 metric Ton, Ö-varvet invested in a brand new slipway (900T capacity) and 1 Power Hoist 150 from the Roodberg Pacific range. As Jonas Backman, owner of the shipyard with his brothers Orjan and Peder, told Marina World: “main reason for us to buy a Roodberg was the huge size of their Power Hoist, which makes sure we can handle every ship we want. Other arguments were their 8 lifting points, which allows us to lift lightly built hulls and wooden boats as well. Beside that we were impressed by their actual Quality, the lowest sound level and other features. We found these the best on the market”. “With this fast operating Roodberg system to 150T and the 900T capacity slipway operational for the second year, our shipyard offers everything to any ship-owner in this region”.

As Jonas told, the shipyard facilities attract different groups of clients, including Fishing boats, Navy-boats, Coast guard, Work boats and (Super) Yachts.

The Ö-varvet facilities, being just north of the port of Göteborg and on deep water is ideal for every Yacht-owner sailing in that area, which runs from Germany, Denmark, Swedish west-coast to Southern Norway waters!
